Applying for Your Marriage License

Before your wedding ceremony, you must obtain a valid Florida marriage license from any Florida Clerk of Court office.

Marriage licenses are issued by Florida Clerks of Court. Most couples obtain their marriage license in person by presenting valid government-issued photo identification and meeting the requirements established by the issuing county.

Florida residents who complete an approved premarital preparation course may qualify for a reduced marriage license fee and may have the waiting period waived. Out-of-state couples are not subject to Florida's waiting period requirements.

Some Florida counties may offer remote, virtual, or mail-away marriage license options for eligible couples. Availability, eligibility requirements, and procedures vary by county.

Weiss Weddings is happy to provide information, guidance, and support throughout the marriage license process to help make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. While marriage licenses must be obtained directly through the appropriate Clerk of Court office, we are always available to answer questions and help point you in the right direction.

Following your ceremony, we will complete the officiant portion of the license and promptly return it to the appropriate Clerk of Court for recording.
